After being relayed by several Monegasque athletes, including F1 car racer Charles Leclerc, the flame was welcomed hy H.S.H. Prince Albert II, H.S.H. Princess Charlene and their children, thus paying tribute to the Olympic commitment of the Princely Family.

A member of the International Olympic Committee, the Monegasque Sovereign has participated five times in the Winter Olympic Games in the Principality's bobsleigh team. H.S.H. Princess Charlene also participated in the Olympic Games in 2000 as part of the Australian swimming team.
