Monaco is Honoured in Hong Kong

As part of the China New Energy Vehicle Show, which took place in Hong Kong from 24 to 26 November, the Principality's strategy in the field of sustainable development, and more precisely in the area of clean mobility, was recognised with the Europe-China Smart Mobility City Award. This award was presented in connection with the show by Mr. Jean Pierre Raffarin, President of the Fondation Prospective et Innovations (Foundation for Innovation and Future Technologies) to one European city and one Chinese city. For China, it was awarded to the city of Shenzhen.

At this event, and on the initiative of the Chinese authorities, a memorandum of understanding was signed by Monaco, represented by H.E. Mr. Bernard Fautrier, Minister Plenipotentiary, Official Representative of the Minister of State and Director General of the Shenzhen Development and Reform Commission, a municipal body in Shenzhen charged with drawing up plans and policies to develop efficient new energies and promote the preservation of the environment. This memorandum provides for the development of cooperation between the two entities in the fields of clean mobility, energy efficiency and urban development.

The city of Shenzhen has more than 10 million inhabitants and is classified as a special economic zone, considered one of the richest in China, with a GDP of over USD 22,000 per capita.
