As part of the China Shanghaï International Arts Festival, les Ballets de Monte Carlo had a sweet tour with two performances of Jean-Christophe Maillot’s ballet "The Taming of the Shrew", at the gorgeous Shanghaï Grand Theater, on November 14 and 15, 2024.

The ballet "The Taming of the Shrew" is adapted from Shakespeare’s comedy of the same name, telling the story of the clever Petruchio who marries the “shrewish” rich girl Katherina.

It is one of the most successful comedy ballets in history, praised as a ballet that “changed the face of theatrical ballet worldwide”. With its humorous plot and style, it brings laughter to the audience.

The Monte Carlo Ballet’s "The Taming of the Shrew", choreographed by Jean-Christophe Maillot, reveals the main characters' traits, psychological states, and relationships from a fresh perspective.

The production is infused with modernity, featuring original and inspiring movements that offer a refreshing and aesthetically delightful experience.
