Ballets de Monte-Carlo join Monaco Embassy to celebrate 20 years of diplomatic relations with China

On 12 March in Beijing, Monaco’s Embassy in China celebrated the twentieth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Principality of Monaco and the People’s Republic of China.

Following a reception attended by H.E. Ms Catherine Fautrier, Monaco’s Ambassador to China, and 150 guests at the National Theatre for Performing Arts, there was an opportunity to enjoy a performance of Faust by the Ballets de Monte-Carlo. A number of officials representing the Chinese Government were at the reception, including H.E. Mr Zhai Jun, China’s Ambassador to France and Monaco, and H.E. Mr Zhao Jinjun who was appointed the first Chinese Ambassador to Monaco in 2006.

Prince Rainier III formally established diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China on 16 January 1995. The first Ambassadors were appointed in 2006.

Several events have been organised throughout the year in China to mark the anniversary. In May, the Philharmonic Orchestra will perform here for the first time, visiting six different cities.

Monaco Week” will be held in Shanghai and Beijing from 11 to 16 June, and the Economic Development Chamber is planning an economic mission to Beijing in the autumn.
