This visit, aimed at discussing bilateral economic and trade cooperation, allowed the Chinese diplomats to meet with institutional officials and local entrepreneurs. The meeting proved to be all the more important as it had not taken place in such a format for more than 13 years !

During a meeting with the Minister of Finance and Economy, Mr. Frédéric Cottalorda, the Chinese delegation was able to discuss the results and major directions of current bilateral cooperation, and to address prospective areas for future development.

Both parties noted that trade volumes between the two countries had increased significantly over the last five years, both in terms of imports and exports.

On this basis, they affirmed their shared commitment to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, emphasizing the spirit of frank and constructive dialogue that has characterized Sino-Monegasque relations for over 30 years, despite the major differences between the two countries, particularly regarding socio-economic systems.

At the initiative of the Embassy of Monaco in China, a working lunch then brought together the Chinese delegation, business leaders, and the main representatives of institutional entities in charge of the economy, attractiveness, and tourism at the Yacht Club de Monaco.

Discussions focused in particular on promising sectors of bilateral cooperation such as tourism, innovation and start-ups, high technologies, ecology, the blue economy, and renewable energies.

In the late afternoon, another highlight was the "Business Destination China" Conference organized by the Monaco Economic Board. At the invitation of the Monegasque Chamber of Commerce, the Chinese delegation gave a comprehensive presentation on the specificities of the Chinese market and its access opportunities to a panel of over 70 business leaders.

During the cocktail reception that followed, entrepreneurs were able to engage directly in discussions with diplomats from the Chinese Embassy.

There is no doubt that the Monegasque economic sector is ready to take on the challenge of trade with the world's second-largest economy !
